Hunter's arguing and denying; Devin is full of energy; Is Bryce walking yet?

Hello everyone.

Spring has sprung and it’s about time! The past few days have been gorgeous, but it rained last night and although it’s pretty cloudy out there now, it hasn’t rained yet.

A lot has been happening around here, but of course I did a lousy job remembering the more important and funny things. I count on my updates to remind me when I’m old and grey how it used to be and I’m not even keeping track of all the great things happening around here! I have a ton of pictures to share with you, so I’ll download them from my camera in a bit and that’ll help me remember. A side note here – I would have a ton of pictures for you, but I can’t get the pictures off my cell phone. I can see them in my cell phone, but when I plug the card into the computer, they are frustratingly missing!

One thing Hunter said this week that got us laughing was when we were at the playland in McDonald’s. He had asked us if we saw where Devin went inside the many tubes and areas that look like half bubbles. Tim responded something like that Devin had joined the majority and Hunter looked at him and said, ‘In English, please.’ LOL

Hunter brought home his report card on Friday. I haven’t entered the information yet on the Hunter in School page, but I’ll get to it eventually. Both today and yesterday Hunter did some practice questions for his 3rd Grade Achievement Tests. The reading one is tomorrow. He is a very good reader and I expect him to do well, but sometimes the questions asked are confusing to him, especially those that ask what someone else is feeling or why someone else will do whatever. The Ohio Department of Education has provided select questions in each area from the past three years of testing for students on their website. I had forgotten that and planned on reading a short story myself and then having Hunter read it and then asking him questions about it, but then it hit me that there was a website that did just that. So think of him tomorrow (Monday)!

Wednesday is his big math test. He didn’t do so well on his practice test, although it seems one question Hunter had the right answer marked, but the teacher marked it wrong. He said they didn’t go over it together, they just turned it in and there isn’t evidence of another answer being erased. I’m going to ask her about that .

Hunter had some friends over this weekend and they spent three straight hours outside. Devin was out there with them and even Tim was out there mowing the lawn and doing some other clean up work. Bryce was napping part of it and it was so nice to have the house to myself. I didn’t clean, I didn’t sew, I didn’t surf my message boards but I read a book! It didn’t last long enough, but it was great.

I’m mad at my hubby for cutting down a bush that is close to his grill instead of just trimming it back. I don’t know what it’s called, but it blooms yellow flowers in the spring. But not this spring!

Hunter has been a pain in my tush. If I ask him if he did something when we both know the answer is yes, he denies it and asks me if I have proof. I try to help him get coordinating outfits ready for school, but he doesn’t want my help and argues with me later that it’s OK to wear clothes that don’t match or when I comment on his shirt being backwards or inside out. He tells me that it’s fine, there’s nothing wrong with what he’s wearing, even that he likes it that way. I’m hoping now that his grandpa made a comment about Hunter’s shirt being inside out he’ll pay closer attention and it won’t happen again.

He is great with his brothers, but he doesn’t always understand when he needs to intervene. Bryce found one of Hunter’s small toys and choked on it a bit and Hunter was sitting right next to him and didn’t say anything (we have spoken about Bryce and small toys) and we were outside when Devin took off toward the road and Hunter just watched him go.

I jinxed myself. Devin had gone five nights of staying in his bed all night long, then I went and talked about it to a couple people, and now he’s back to waking and crying until we respond or wandering to one of the couches to be found there in the morning. He is an outdoor boy in either play or work. He’s getting his timing down while playing baseball and is remembering which way to run to first base! He’s a champ when jumping on our trampoline and I no longer have to spot him as he maneuvers up our small climbing wall to the slide.

We finally picked up some landscaping brick to finish the flower beds I began before I got pregnant with Devin. He helped me carry each brick from the tractor trailer to a temporary spot and helped move the rocks up into the trailer. He tried very hard to pick them up on his own, but he accepted help when offered. I’m switching out the circle of rocks around my trees with the brick and would like to make a rock garden around my wishing well. If you have any design ideas, please share them with me!

Knight is going to get back in shape with Devin around! I won’t be feeling my house shake anymore, we just go outside and I let them run around together or we go out to the pond with a bumper. Soon though I’ll just be able to open the back door and let them loose. Tim is going to install a fence that encloses the playground area and then some more with an extended corner for the dogs to do their business. Tim trained Knight to poo in tall grass, so that’ll work with him, but Kit doesn’t give a darn. I’m not really keen on having the dogs romp in the same area as my children’s playground, but it’s hard sometimes to go outside as often as Devin wants to with Bryce. It’ll be better when he starts walking, but for now he’s either on my hip or in the play pen.

No, Bryce isn’t walking yet, but he’s trying! He’s gone four steps on his own so far! Before we know it, before DEVIN knows it, Bryce will be chasing him down and tackling him! He’s still waking often during the night, just like Devin was.

Tim wants me to get Bryce a hair cut. I took a picture of his curls for you to see. I don’t want to cut them off! I want to put his hair in just one pony tail…oh, no. No! I’m not serious, but I would like to see how curly his hair gets. Hunter had curls, too. I’ll try to dig out a picture of him before his first hair cut and post it under the ‘Random picture of the boys’ I have at the bottom of my home page.

That’s it for now. I’ll post this tonight but won’t get to the pictures until tomorrow. Have a great week!

Yo
